CoCoRaHs - Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow Network

In November, I joined a grassroots volunteer network of weather enthusiasts from across America in a better effort to accurately gauge precipitation.

Volunteers who submit daily reports on the CoCoRaHs network are expected to maintain a consistent schedule, so data collected is as accurate as possible.

Data received from CoCoRaHs volunteers is collected and displayed for many different agencies. The website lists several such organizations:
The National Weather Service, other meteorologists, hydrologists, emergency managers, city utilities (water supply, water conservation, storm water), insurance adjusters, USDA, engineers, mosquito control, ranchers and farmers, outdoor & recreation interests, teachers, students, and neighbors in the community are just some examples of those who visit our Web site and use our data.
I am currently maintaining one weather station. It is located at Highland Academy in Sumner County. The station number is TN-SR-55, and the station name is 'Portland 4.5 SSE'

TN-SR-55 will retire in May 2009 when I move it to Hamilton County.

Stay tuned for reports as they come in.....
